The indirect or reported speech is used mainly to report a speech for example when someone who was not present at the event place or on the news to report world's events. So let's learn how do you write sentences in reported speech. 😉😍

Direct Indirect Speech Examples

 Here are some sentences in reported speech exercises:

Direct Speech: Jane always wears a jacket.
Reported Speech: He said that Jane always wore a jacket.
Direct Speech: We bought chocolate from this supermarket yesterday.
Reported Speech: He said that they had bought chocolate from that supermarket the day before.

Direct Speech: The postman brought Peter two letters last week.
Reported Speech: He said that the postman had brought Peter two letters the previous week.

How to use Raqmedia interactive Online Exercises

👉 Fill in the blanks with the appropriate word. Make the necessary changes:
  1. Read the sentence in the direct speech.
  2. Report the sentence taking into consideration the changes.
  3. Use small letters and fill in all the boxes!!.
  4. When finished press Check to see which answers are correct and Show button to reveal the correct answers.

Simple Present "Do you work in this company?" A man asked me. A man asked me in company.
Simple Past "Did you give your friend his computer?" My mother asked me My mother asked me my friend his computer.
Simple Future "Will you come to my 20th birthday party tomorrow at home?"Sarrah asked Dorothy. Sarrah asked Dorothy come to 20th birthday party at home.
Present Continuous "Is the baby sleeping in the bedroom now?" The grandmother asked. The grandmother wanted to know the baby in the bedroom .
Past Continuous "Was Bill playing with this ball?" The father asked. The father asked Bill with ball.
Present Perfect "Have you done all the paper work here?" The manager asked the officer. The manager asked the officer all the paper work .
Past Perfect "Had Barbara typed on this computer yesterday?" The secretary asked. The secretary asked Barbara on computer .
Can "Can you give hand to your sister solve this equation?" My teacher asks me. My teacher wanted to know I give hand to brother solve equation.
May "May I use this smartphone to make a selfie?" A stranger girl asked me. A stranger girl asked me she use smartphone to make a selfie.
Must "Must we go to cinema today?" My brother asked me. My brother asked me they go to cinema .
